How it works

Your commitment to the climate, step by step.

HapGree helps you estimate emissions, support projects that avoid new emissions or absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, and document the contribution in an understandable way.

The path

Four steps, a clear trail.

Offsetting complements emission reduction, it does not replace it.

  1. 01

    We start from your business

We define the period and collect the relevant data: for example energy, travel or stays, depending on the context.

  2. 02

    We estimate the emissions

We use the available data and a method applicable to the case. The estimate also helps identify where to focus reduction efforts.

  3. 03

    You support a project

You choose a real project. The support happens through the purchase and retirement of carbon credits linked to that project.

  4. 04

    You make the contribution visible

You receive documentation and a certificate with quantity, year and consultable references. It is not a certification of the entire organisation.

Carbon credits

From results to retirement, with a consultable trail.

  1. 01

    Projects and results

A project can avoid or reduce emissions compared to a baseline scenario, or remove CO2 from the atmosphere, according to the methodology applied.

  2. 02

    Verification and credits

A credit represents one tonne of CO2 equivalent reduced or removed. CO2e allows different greenhouse gases to be expressed with a common unit.

  3. 03

    Retirement and documentation

Once retired, a credit can no longer be resold or used again. The documents include consultable references when available.

Standards and verification · Technical sources

Standards and verification

Verra, through the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), and Gold Standard are reference programmes and standards for the market. They are not certifications, accreditations or partners of HapGree, and they do not apply indiscriminately to all projects.

The associations are shown only on the profiles supported by registries and documents: VCS 1748 and Gold Standard GS7689-7591.

Benefits that can go beyond the climate

The SDGs are the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, not a certification. Water, energy, ecosystems and communities are possible benefits to be read project by project, only when documented.

See, for example, the internal profiles on safe water, solar energy and forest protection.

The projects

Where your contribution goes.

Projects have different mechanisms. The internal profiles gather available data, sources and original documents.

Cambogia · Protezione delle foreste

Cardamome meridionali

Emissions avoided from deforestation and forest degradation. Forest protection avoids emissions from deforestation and is not equivalent to attributing an absorption to the supporter.

India · Efficienza energetica domestica

Stufe efficienti

Emissions avoided by reducing woody biomass consumption. The use of more efficient stoves reduces biomass consumption compared to the baseline scenario.

Documentation

A contribution you can verify.

This original document shows how the quantity, year, supported project and retirement references can be consulted for a real contribution. It does not certify the entire organisation.

  • Quantity expressed in tCO2e
  • Associated year and project
  • Consultable documentary references
